Miles Logan (played by Martin Lawrence) is a jewel-thief waiting for his big score to happen. When he finally gets the chance to steal the diamond that will earn him millions, he is framed by his partner Deacon. Surrounded by the cops, he hides the diamond in an airduct of an old building and lets himself get arrested. After serving two years of prison, he goes off to collect the diamond, only to discover that the old building has now turned into a full-blown police department. His only chance to get his diamond back is to apply for a job as detective, dress and act like one, and make sure he has a good explanation when somebody catches him crawling up airducts.
