In the year 10191 the Atreides, a very popular family among the Great Houses, is going to take over Arrakis, a dry planet covert by vast deserts. On this planet, also called Dune, grows the most important and expensive product in the entire universe : the Spice which prolongs life and creates prescience. The Harkonnen have been ruling Dune for 80 years, but now it is up to Duke Leto Atreides... Unfortunately the Emperor Paddishah Shadam IV is jealous of Leto's popularity and he is ready to help his ennemy, the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, to invade Dune and kill the Atreides. Paul, the Duke's son, seems to have strange abilities as say the Bene Gesserit, a powerful feminine monastic order whom Paul's mother is a member. Paul can feel that his father is surrounded by fate and that a betrayor could try to kill him. He shall escape with the help of Gurney Halleck, the legendary warrior-troubadour, and Duncan Idaho a swordsman sent long ago on Dune to meet the Fremen living in the terrible deserts. These people have long held a prophecy that a Messiah would come... Adapted from one of the best Science-Fiction stories ever written. Frank Herbert's novel (1962) won the Hugo and Nebula awards.
